Limit to the number of user connections through the DI API

Is there a limit to the number of concurrent connections for a single user through the DI API? Someone told me that there was a limit of two connections per user.

So I'm assuming that the connection would just encompuss the transaction request and the returned response from SAP B1? What happens if there is a request and the limit of two are in process? Does the DI API wait or return an unsuccessful connection?
