License management but not SAPs!

Dear all,

Disclaimer...I am an SAP novice :).

My company have SAP. Some of the products and services that we sell have licenses for both software and hardware. I want to understand how SAP supports license management and I can't find anything useful in online searches. I'm sure it's there somewhere but it is buried underneath search results for how to adminster SAP licenses which is not what I'm looking for.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Dear Andrew,

I am afraid you have picked a not suitable tag for your question: 'Software Logistics' and its sub-tags deal with the logistics of software like installing, updating or changing programs and applications. Therefore experts following these tags will not be able to help you.

Your question seems to deal with handling the licenses of products and services your company sells.

I would therefore suggest to change the tag to one of the tags starting with 'SD' (Sales and Distribution). You might also try 'MM' (Materials Management), because that potentially could be the place where SAP stores the license keys.

Changing the tag will greatly increase your chances to get help.

Hi aheawo,

best approach is to contact the Account Manager that is assigned to you. You wont find so much of generic references for Licensing. It depends on the customer-sap contracts.

Thank you Balaji, I was hoping to find out that SAP had a license management module...with you saying that I am 'won't find so much of generic references for licensing' makes me think that they don't...which would surprise me. To be clear, I am not talking about a module to manage our companies SAP licenses I am talking about a module that helps our company manage licenses for the products that they sell.

seems there is a dashboard now in SAP for Me portal (Finance and Legal). Need a S-user which is linked to the right Customer Numbers. This will show the relevant info.
