IW38/IW39 Period Date or Basic Start/Basic Finish date to searching Work Order Historical

When searching for work order history in one Functional Location using the Basic Start Date/Basic Finish Date parameter and compared using the Period date parameter, the data displayed is different.

Which parameter is more standard to use in order to get more accurate data

The Period dates uses certain dates depending on the Order status

  • for completed orders, it is the reference date of the order completion
  • for orders not completed, it is the order start date

The reference date defaults to the date the Order is Technically Completed so this could be different from the Basic Start date hence why you reports are different.

I suppose the question is what are you looking for with the Functional Location history?

  • When the Order was scheduled to be done (Basic Start Dates) or
  • When the Order was completed (Period Dates)

I have always used Basic Start Dates but add the Reference Date in the list.
Hope this helps.
