Item text not copied from Contract into PO

HI ALL,

I have a problem with item text not being copied into PO from contract.

I have created a PR and assigned a contract as source of supply.I have maintained Item text in Contract and PR.Based on the Copy controls of text linkages, the item text is picked from contract.

Now i removed the Item text from Contract and want the Item text from PR to be copied to PO, but the Item text is copied from Contract (i.e, Blank/No Text).

But initially when i havent maintained any Item text in contract, the item text is picked up from PR.

I am not able to trace the functionality here.

Can anyone help me out?

Hi Pratap

As per standard config, the following functionality works:

1) If the text is maintained in "Info record PO text" of contract, it will be copied as item text in case of creating release PO w.r.t. source (contract) assigned PR.

2) If text is not maintained in "Info record PO text" of contract, the item text of PR is copied over to item of Text of PO.

So, please check whether some blank space might have been maintained in the "Info record PO text" of contract.

Hi,

On the item text linkage table, check the settings.

You can have a setting that copies the text into the source document and allows you to change it. (this sounds like th one you have, becaus when you delete it there is no reference back to the original text because it was copied into the document.

there is also one that just refers to the original document (the text is not copied) so if you were to rmeove any manual text this would be proposed instead.

I am not at my SAP system at the moment and so I can't be more specific, but I am sure that if you change these settings you will find that one combination will give you what you want.

Thanks for the response. But I have not created/Saved the PO before changing the Item text in Contract.

The scenario i have on hand is i have no item text in contract and item text in PR, but still the item text in contract is picked up in PO.

Hi,

This is all managed from within the item text config that you are aware of.

But you said in the last reply

If you have no item text in the contract then how can you say "but still the item text in the contract is picked up in the PO"?????

I am not sure of what is actually happening?

I meant Item text from contract is copied into PO.(The BLANK data is being proposed in PO from contract).

HI,

I don't know what sequence you have in the config for copying text types and so I can't tell if this is causing the problem.

Have you set the "fix" flags correctly? (try different settings and see if this makes a difference.

But it will certainly be this config step that is causing the problem.

Sorry that I am not really being that helpful but all I can do is to point out the fact that these settings must be correct.

SPRO > MM > Purchasing > Purchase order > Texts for PO > Define copying rules for item texts
