Assuming you are referring to batch managed materials, then it depends on whether the material is batch managed at the client level or at the plant level. The below post might be helpful.

Batch Management Levels | SAP Community

If it is batch managed at the client level, it will be batch managed at all organizational levels. Managing batch materials at the plant level then requires a batch number only for inbound, internal, and outbound transactions for that plant. The same material is then not batch managed at other plants.
