Dear SAP Expert,
We have encountered an issue in the system where it allows the creation of a new registered product with an ID that has already been assigned to a different product. The system does not prevent the duplication of registered product IDs.
This issue is causing inconsistencies in our product data and may lead to operational challenges, particularly in tracking and managing registered products. It also increases the risk of errors in reporting and managing customer service process.
We kindly request your feedback on this issue and how to manage this matter.

Here is the introduction of Serial Number, you can find in the Help Portal: Working with Serial Number.

Serial numbers are unique identifiers that you can assign to a single item of a tangible product. They are used to differentiate that item from other items of the same product. A serial number identifies a particular item that enables you to distinguish between individual pieces.
Since serial numbers are only unique per reference material, two different reference materials could have the same serial number.

Therefore, what you encountered is a standard system behavior.

Dear Ali,
The same Registered Product ID is allowed to different Reference Products, Since the ID is made up of both Reference and Registered Product.
Therefore, the system will only trigger an error message when trying to create two Registered Products with the same ID and same Reference Product.
This behavior is documented on SAP's Help Portal, in the "Registered Products Quick Guide", available on the link (item 5 of this section):

Dear @Ali_Rahmatallah,
The Business ByDesign's system currently does not have a functionality for it.
However, you can always edit the Registered Product ID to make sure it is not duplicated with another existing one, by changing the Registered Product Status to Obsolete (in case it is Active) and changing the ID.
Furthermore, you can submit a new Improvement Request on SAP Customer Influence website (https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/) or vote for existing ones.
This way, we can analyze your request to be implemented on Business ByDesign, as we already did to many other customers, and improve our environment.
