Issue with Cross-Selling Being Unavailable After Variant Configuration (SAP S/4HANA On-Premise)

Hello SAP Community,

I am facing an issue with Cross-Selling in SAP S/4HANA when using a material that has both Cross-Selling condition records and Variant Configuration enabled.

Issue Description:
I have maintained Cross-Selling condition records (transaction VB41) for a specific material. The material is configured with Variant Configuration, so when I enter it in a sales order (PosType CBTC), the system automatically starts the configuration process. After completing the Variant Configuration and confirming the selections, the system returns to the sales order screen. However, the Cross-Selling selection window does not appear. There's also a button in the sales order for the Cross Selling pop-up, which unfortunately doesn't work in this scenario.

To make sure that we set up Cross Selling correctly, we also implemented Cross Selling for another Material, which does not use Variant Configuration (PosType TAN). This works as intended.

Question:
Is there any known restriction in SAP S/4HANA that prevents the Cross-Selling functionality from triggering when a material has Variant Configuration? How can I manually trigger the Cross-Selling selection after completing the configuration? Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, what was the solution? Thank you for your support!

Since note 2829808 suggests that LOVC and Cross Selling don't work in conjunction and to avoid modifying standard behaviour, I think we should move forward with two seperate materials. One for the configuration and one for the Cross Selling functionalty. Using seperate Cross Selling materials might have the benefit of being able to group sub materials.
