Hello Experts,
have encountered one situation as below:
1. Service Org 1001 (Company code 1000, Plant 1001, Cost Center 1001)
2. Service Org 1002 (Company Code 1000, Plant 1002, Cost Center 1002)
Project X is created under service org 1001. Now Project Manager want to assign resource from Service Org 1002, so while searching resources then system is fetching resources from other company code as well.
This looks like bug.
I would like to know if this is standard process or we are missing something to be set in system.
please guide.
thanks

Hi sunil.yadavnagarro ,
Thank you for posting on the community.
I am assuming that you are in the plan customer projects app and are trying to plan/staff resources. Does the project manager you are using for this use-case have restricted access in their business role assigned? If not perhaps you could explore further in detail your business role and restrictions setup.
To exemplify, the restriction type "CPD_MP_OR" which is Service Organization may be relevant to maintain. Below is formal description obtained from the app "Display Restriction Types"
"Restricts access to one or more service organizations for customer or internal projects. Depending on the settings you choose, these restrictions affect the business users’ ability to create, change, or display projects, or to process information in such projects.
This restriction type also determines a business user's ability to staff resources from a service organization.
Note: To use this restriction, maintain it in the restriction group Authorization Group for Engagement Project."
Hope this helps,
Feras

thanks Basha for the reply.
Logically, if i select Service Org 1002 (Company Code 1000, Plant 1002, Cost Center 1002) while adding role then resource assignment should show only relevant resources who are assigned to cost center 1002 whether its a normal or Inter company scenario is there.
In case your example if a Project manager has Business Role which contain Restriction based on service org then Project Manager would assign only resources from same service org, he will not be able to select other resources.
Our issue is not related to restriction type to be maintained, but this is general where Project Manager want to assign resources from other company code or other service org from same company code.
I think this is Bug from SAP Side. I have tested many times but looks like the same.
please help us how can we go ahead.

Hi ferasbasha3 ,
Thanks for understanding my point 🙂
I am struggling for this issue since last more then 10 days but i was not sure at that time why this happens. then i tried to find the reason and found this.
Logically, this is wrong and should be reported to SAP and then correction required.
I will try to raise this with example.
in case you find any alternate or workaround then let us know.
thanks

Hi Syadav,
As per standard design, when setting up the project for staffing a resource in the "plan customer projects" app you first add a role. In the role you have the option of defining a delivery organization which is derived from your service organization. When yo staff a resource, the system uses the information provided in the planned role to pre-filter the suggested resources. Accordingly, if no value was place in the delivery organization field of the planned role the system (assuming no authorization restrictions) will present all the employees available and with cost centers assigned to a valid service organization.
Hope this clarifies.

Hello ferasbasha3 ,
I agree with you in case we do not select service org then system will fetch all resource irrespective of any cost center. one more thing, in this condition system will automatically determine service org once a resource is selected from all the employees. for example Project is from Germany and we are selecting without service org then system will determine service org based on cost center assigned in employee master (Cost center is related to only one service org as per SAP).
As per standard, and following test script J11, we have entered service org while adding Role. If you have added Service Org then system should fetch resources who is assigned to cost center maintained in that service Org only.
I have also found one case where we do not have resources assigned to Cost center related to service org then system is displaying all resources despite of Service org. logically system should not display any resources in this case.
I am sure SAP has some point to design this but logically if we are selecting service org then system should restrict resource search to this only.
thanks

Hi sunil.yadavnagarro ,
Thank you for the feedback and clarification.
With regards to the case "where we do not have resources assigned to Cost center related to service org then system is displaying all resources despite of Service org." This does not sound like standard behavior. Resources should only be displayed available for staffing if their cost center is in fact assigned to a service organization. If the cost center of the employee is not available as a default or additional cost center in the service organization setup then these resources typically would not appear for staffing. Therefore for this case I would suggest opening a ticket and dive deeper with product support.
Hope this helps.

Hello Basha,
We are using Basic Resource Management only.
