Is it possible to store PRTs in EWM and stage them to the production area ?

Hello Everyone,

We plan to use Material PRTs for accessories that we use during production and are not consumed in the product.

We use EWM (the basic license version), and I was wondering if there was a mechanism I could use to "stage" the appropriate tools for the production order, and store these in EWM. Is there any capability for this in SAP ?

Hi,

the only Idea is to ad the PRT which is defined as a Material in the BoM as +1 and - 1 positions.

Then you consume it with movement type 261 in operation 0010 and receive it back in the last operation with 531 movement type as by product. It is a silly solution so I am looking forward for other ideas.

I think the problem will be the availability check for the tool for this day. Because if it is checking the day and not the time it will show you the availability for this day but it might be stucked in an other production order during this day.

You could use user exit to do the PRT check for exactly the order that this equipment is used in as a work around.

But like I said, this is just an idea out of the box, so looking forward for other ideas. Since I need it for a current EWM project for staging with MES 😉

Material is combined with Equipment in Equipment master data...

Thanks for this suggestion, also it's a bit cumbersome it's a smart workaround for this limitation.

We'll give it a try to see how feasible it would be in shopfloor.
