Is it possible to remove a material extension from a distribution chain?

Hello Experts, 

We have a scenario where we've extended a material to a distribution chain (ie 1710 10).  However, we have since decided to use common distribution channels and divisions, and have assigned them in customizing as such.  So we've also extended this material to the common one (ie 1710 00), which we will be using going forward.  However, since the distribution chain 1710 10 is no longer valid, whenever I try to edit this product in the application Manage Product Master Data it keeps giving me an error saying that I've maintained an invalid sales area, and I'm unable to save any changes at all.  I've tried setting the deletion indicator at the distribution chain layer, and it's still hitting me with this error.  Can anything be done to remove this extension so it stops giving me a hard error?

Hi Rashid, this is interesting, but it's not directly related to my question. Let me also clarify, we are using S4 Hana Cloud. To try to ask my question more plainly, if we maintain a distribution chain, which we later stop using because we start using common distribution channels, can we get the application Manage Product Master Data to ignore the old extension? Every time we try to save any piece of data in the application, we get a hard error saying we've maintained an invalid sales area. Thanks.
