Is it possible to make material group on a preq editable after release for a service preq?

We are creating Service Preqs with a material group entered on the preq which have been setup for different types of services. There is no material master in this case. We would like to be able to change this on a preq after the preq is released but the field is greyed out. I have checked and it's already set as an optional entry for ME52N. Is this possible to be able to edit it?

Edit: K D preqs with GL and cost center entered separately, not pulled from material group or anything like that. They are just using the material group for reporting to classify the type of service it is.

Better set deletion flag to that line item(10) and create another line item(20) in same PR by having correct material group!

** Your old material group may be linked to a G/L account where in PR you must be having cost object along with G/L account. As PR created and released with these cost object ,and now all are display mode hence better follow above mentioned.

These are K D preqs so the GL and Cost Center are entered separately so that wouldn't be a concern.

You have mentioned earlier material group used for reporting purpose and as this is a service PO- check that material group not used in any service specific, perhaps wrongly entered during PR creation and also if your PR release not depends on material group- you can change material to a new one but make sure the field is editable as PR released already. Better prefer earlier suggested one!
