Inspection Plan Usage for Inspection Type 08 / Movement Type 322

Hi,

Could you please let me know whether to use Usage 5 or 9 in the Inspection Plan of a material that uses Inspection Type 08 and Movement Type 322?

When Usage 5 is used, the following message appears in MB1B (Movement Type 322):

"Preparation for the quality inspection could not be completed"

Usages and what usages are assigned to inspection types is totally configurable.

There is no RIGHT answer.

You can add/delete usages as you want.

You can change the usage used by any particular inspection type.

So when people say you should use xx or yy, it's totally based on how their system was configured or possibly what SAP delivers out of the box.

You need to find out what usage YOUR system has been configured to use with the inspection type you are using. Either look in config in the inspection type setup, or ask one of your IT people to look it up. I find the settings are often changed in many systems.

Standard SAP has usage 9 defined for inspection type 08, but definitely you can change the configuration to link to another usage if required.

Hi, thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I am unable to find Usage 8 in the drop-down list within the Inspection Plan. The Usages that are available in the drop-down list are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 51, and 53. Would I have to change any configuration to get Usage 8 to the list?
