Hi all,
i have a new requirement. My company wants to replace all the existing profit centers (currently in use) to new profit centers. My understanding is that it will affect the existing settings.
Q| In which master data\ which areas do i need to change the new profit centers? example, material master, Sales order etc?
Q2 DO i transfer the Old Profit Center value to New Profit Center through Transaction Code 9KE0 before assignment (Q1)?
Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Mira

HI
You can see PC assignments to objects through sap transaction 1KE4 - Assignment Monitor or 1KE4N - Profit Center Where-Used List (depending on version of SAP). In general on CO/PM/QM orders, Cost Centers, Materials, WBS, Sales orders. It can also be in fixed assets (usually only a cost center).
In general, a profit center is a time-dependent organizational unit and can be opened for validity in the future. The same applies to cost centers where a change is made for the future (valid from / to) with a new PC.
At some objects, it is not possible to define time dependencies for the profit center (CO order, PM order, SD order, MM order, PS, ..). Here the PC needs to be replaced manually (if the object is not locked for changes) or through a MASS transaction.
You can also help yourself with substitutions, where rules can be set to automatically replace the PC when creating or posting to the mentioned objects (for example, if the posting date is > xx.yy.zzzz, then replace the PC from current one to the new one).
Reorganization in SAP regarding organizational units can be simple or very complex.

Hi Dejan,
thank you very much for your comment.
From your comment my understanding is that, subsitution would be easier than the defining time dependencies.
One concern though- the current profit center already has subsititions rule (profit center determined by sales org ). In that case, would it be possible to implement|create another substitution rules?
We have a lot of profit center which business needs to change but the caapacity is really limited. Our goal is to automate all the pc center change as much as possible and keep the process simple.
Looking forward.
thanks,
mira
