How to recover particular schema from a system backup into another tenant

Hi

We have SAP Business One HANA on a production server and there is a development server (Both are different Physical Servers), we need to restore a particular schema from the system backup of production server to a the Development server with out impacting the existing development server environment.

Kindly help with any notes

Hi Sachin,

there is no way to extract subset of data directly from database backup. The only option is to recreate DB tenant and access desired data set in recreated tenant.

You can achieve it in two ways:

  1. Using tenant copy/move as per Copying and Moving Tenant Databases.
  2. Using backup/restore method as documented in Copying a database.

In any case, you would create a new tenant in your Dev HANA system - additional to existing DEV tenant, copy/restore PRD tenant, and then access the data you are interested in.

You obviosuly need to have sufficient storage space on DEV system to eprform any of the above operations (not necessarilly same memory as in PRD< but enough storage).
