Hi,
I would like to link a dedicated a [Storage type 4 / Storage Section / Storage Bin 4] with the Storage location 2 (see below).
The idea is that when I will transfer a material in the Storage Bin 4, it will only be link with the Storage Location 2.
For your information, the Storage Location 2 has a specific setup (Storage location stock excluded from MRP) that should only apply to the [Storage type 4 / Storage Section / Storage Bin 4].
I have seen in several posts that there is no link between a Storage Location and a Storage Type / Bin so my question is :
How can I set up so that the item code that goes into Storage Bin 4 is only linked to Storage Location 2 ?
Request clarification before answering.
Hello @BBQMaster68
The functionality you are looking for is Posting Changes Between Storage Locations. It is customized in SPRO: Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Interfaces -> Inventory Management -> Define Storage Location Control. Make sure to read the documentation to this configuration node.
You can assign the storage location 2 to the storage type 4 here. Then when a stock quant of storage location different then 2 is placed in a bin in the storage type 4, the quant can be automatically transferred to the storage type 4. Alternatively, the transfer can be cumulatively posted with the RLLQ0100 report / the LQ01 transaction.
Bear in mind that this functionality doesn't work for storage types with storage unit management.

Hello @BBQMaster68
The org structure you have asked about implies storage location to storage location transfer postings. Those are done with the LQ01 transaction / the RLLQ0100 report. You can also have the transfers automated with the settings in the Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Interfaces -> Inventory Management -> Define Storage Location Control... node.
LQ02 is for WM initiated transfer postings between stock types, not between storage locations.
LU01, LU02 are used to maintain posting notifications. You don't need to use them for your scenario.

@BBQMaster68 You don't really need to use LQ01. If you make the settings in the above mentioned configuration, the transfer postings can be executed automatically.
The way you describe it, I'm not sure I can apply it.
Let's take an example with a transfer that works with only 1 Storage Location.
I have a storage unit in Stor.Loc 1 in a Bin 1. To transfer it to Storage Type 2, I go to the LT10 transaction and specify my Material / Batch or the Storage Unit directly. Finally, in Specify Destination Data, I specify the Storage type and destination Bin and that's it.
Now that I don't have access to LQ01, how do I go about sending my Storage Unit to Storage Location 2 ?
Which transaction should I use?
Hi @BBQMaster68
I'm assuming that the storage type 2 is assigned to storage location 2 in SPRO: Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Interfaces -> Inventory Management -> Define Storage Location Control -> Stor. Location Control in Warehouse Mgmt:
If so, the once you confirm a transfer order to storage type 2 of a stock that belongs to storage location 1, the system will recognize that the stock doesn't belong to the storage location assigned to the storage type 2, which is storage location 2. Thus, WM will automatically initiate MM stock transfer posting from storage location 1 to storage location 2, so you don't need to use any transaction here.
However, if you mark "Combine Post. Changes" checkbox, then the transfer posting to storage location 2 will not be triggered automatically. It needs to be triggered either manually with LQ01 or with a periodic background job with report RLLQ0100.
Again, that functionality doesn't work if storage type 2 is storage unit managed!
