How to install and configure HANA Rules framework (HRF) for BOP in aATP

Hi Experts,

I encountered a technical error when saving a new Configure BOP variant. The error can be seen as shown below.

The error also occurs when any pre-configured BOP variant is being selected for display.

There is a note:2400537 which indicates that HANA Rules framework (HRF) has to be installed as a prerequisite of BOP in aATP. 

Does anybody know how exactly the HRF can be installed in HANA DB?

We are using S4H demo system (cloud version 1909) in AWS.

Hi Flying Dutch,

thanks for bringing up the question about HANA Rules Framework (HRF) and its interplay with Backorder Processing.

The Backorder Processing used HRF from SAP S/4HANA 1610 release on. Therefore it was necessary to set up HRF according to note 2400537 (https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2400537).

With SAP S/4HANA 1909 respectivly SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1908, a new advanced ATP tool has been introduced, the so called 'Select Option Tool'. This was necessary to improve usability when it comes to requirements filter definition and an ease up of the setup overall, plus the HANA Rules Framework was going to be deprecated.

The validity of the note 2400537 has now been adjusted to reflect that.

For migrating from existing HRF-based BOP Segments please find additional information in note 2800374 (https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2800374)

New BOP Segments can only be created using Select Option Tool.

You mentioned version 1909. This does have the Select Option Tool available in BOP Segment app, HRF is not needed. In the tags, you used 2011 which refers to SAP S/4HANA Cloud release where no HRF is used.

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for such quick reply. I've gone through the provided links. It's good to know that S4H 1909 (FPS02) has included SOT and it doesn't require HRF anymore. However, my issue is still there. S4H 1909 is the first S4H system in cloud which we are using since last year. When I followed the exact instructions from one of your links which describes how to configure the BOP variant in Fiori, I always get the same error "The requested variant was not found." (at step 7: save variant) in Fiori. My S4H user account has the Order Fulfillment Manager role. There is no problem to create BOP segments in Fiori.

Can you please enlighten on how solve the issue?

Hi rietjj1 - I was wondering if you had any feedback since your last post about the incident that was raised? I'm running into the same issue with S4HANA 1909 (S4CORE 105) version and I'm still unsure what is causing the Variant error. SOT is enabled so the note 2400537 about HRF doesn't seem to apply.

Hi Yiin,

correct, when using Select Option Tool, there is no need to set up HANA Rules Framework as described in 2400537.

Are you also using a demo system?

I checked the incident provided by Jürgen, but the ticket was marked - as far as I could see - as solved by customer. Hence I cannot provide further details.
