Hello Dear All,
I am operating on the configurable materials which are saved as a new material master after each configuration.
As a result I am receiving a BOM with usage type U (universal), but purchasing department needs also the usage type M (manufacturing BOM) to order the necessary parts properly. In my case the M-bom is completely empty in CS03. How to define the usage in this situation?
Thank You in advance!
MN
Request clarification before answering.
Usage type U is flexible and often used as Configurable BOMs, but it does not automatically replicate to usage type M. When a new material is created from a configuration, the system does not copy the BOM to usage M, unless explicitly instructed. As a result CS03 with usage M shows no components, even though they exist under usage U
What you can do is go to cs01 to create a BOM for the newly generated material. Set BOM usage = M. Copy components from the U-BOM or use reference BOM if applicable
Create a reference BOM that links multiple material variants to a single BOM structure. This allows consistent component usage across variants and supports multiple usage types
