How to create additional depreciation areas in public cloud ?

Hi everyone,

The customer needs additional depreciation areas to follow some asset valuated amounts seperately.

The scope item "Asset Accounting – Additional Depreciation Area"-5HG is active in CBC, however system does not allow to create new depreciation areas in configuration or there is no added depreciation area delivered by SAP. Only two standard depreciation areas are available as 1 for 0L, and 32 for 2L.

Is there anyway to create new depreciation areas on public cloud environment?

Thanks to all.

KBA https://me.sap.com/notes/0003530183 has the scenarios for ledgers that SAP recommend.

Thank you for your response. However, I actually have a different question.

In the following scenario: 0L is used for the local accounting principle, 2L is used for IFRS.

If I activate scope item 5HG, depreciation area 16 will be created automatically.

In the SSCUI 105494 configuration step, will a default entry for depreciation area 16 be generated?

And if so, which ledger will depreciation area 16 be assigned to — 0L or 2L?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Yes, the depreciation areas are deployed on accounts principle assignment at ledger/company code level, the customer is not involved in assigning depreciation areas.

Note - if you activate that scope item for 4G you cannot undo this, then you have to set up. The SAP recommendation is contained in scenario 5.

Okay thanks, but the question is: will the depreciation area be assigned to 0L, to 2L, or to both?

It will be assigned to the ledger with local accounts principle, which needs to be assigned at company code level to get statistical depreciation area. So in your case, with 0L using local accounts principle, it will be created here. Accounts principle IFRS should be assigned at ledger level, only area 32 will ever be delivered with IFRS.

Thank you so much for your answer, Mark_W. (This user also related with @BORDRILL )

We currently use two ledgers but the local accounting principle was assigned to leading ledger. It seems that was the cause of the problem about statistical areas are not enabled. We were already considering to change the ledger-accounting principle combination as SAP suggests - assinging the local accounting principle to the non-leading ledger.

Hopefully that will solve the problem.

Thanks!

Hi @BORDRILL,

Could you please confirm if you activated the scope item 5FK?

Please note that both scope items Asset Accounting – Additional Depreciation Area (5HG) and Asset Under Construction – Additional Depreciation Area (5KF) can only be activated during the scoping phase in SAP Central Business Configuration.

These can also be identified in SAP Process Navigator with the corresponding Tool tip:

The scope item 6VB is not available for all the countries/industries.

Hope this helps.

Hi Arturo Montes de Oca,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, the scope item 5KF is also active in CBC. And scope item 6VB is not supported for the country as you stated.

If you have further recommendations, it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi BORDRIL,

See scope items, it is only option for adding a new depreciation area and maybe it fits your needs.

The scope items must be selected during scoping,

And also, you should assign the local accounts principle at company code level.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Evelyn
