How to create a substitution (OBBH equivalent)

Have seen a similar question asked within another group - but not seen a proper response - so asking again here in case anyone has addressed this issue.

We want to do a substitution across a whole accounting document - basically taking detail from the coding block on one line item (the customer) and copying it to another line item.

! can see that implementing custom logic in the 'Accounting: coding block' business context could be used but would always prefer config over coding if possible. Has anyone solved this issue other than via extensibility?
