How to change Project Demand Name

Dear All,

Our Cost Center has been split, which caused an issue: the Project work hours demand in my project needs to be redistributed. There are two approaches:

  1. I created a new demand while keeping the original WBS and Activity Type. However, the system doesn't allow multiple demands to be allocated to the same WBS and Activity Type.
  2. I had to modify the existing demand instead, but I found that I couldn't change its name. How can I resolve this?

Hello,

Thank you very much for your question and sorry for the late reply.

Can you please check whether the following information (GenAI was used to help generate this content) solves your issue?

When dealing with the redistribution of project work hours demand due to a cost center split, you have encountered two main challenges:

  1. Creating a New Demand:

    • The system does not allow multiple demands to be allocated to the same Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) R&D / Engineering - Resource Demand element and Activity Type. This is a limitation within the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system.
  2. Modifying Existing Demand:

    • You are unable to change the name of an existing demand. This is because once a demand is created, certain attributes, including the name, become fixed and cannot be altered.

Suggested Solutions

  • Modify Existing Demand:

    • Since you cannot create multiple demands for the same WBS and Activity Type, you should continue with modifying the existing demand. R&D / Engineering - Manage Project Demand While the name cannot be changed, you can adjust other attributes such as the planned effort, dates, and resource assignments.
  • Use External Staffing:

    • If you need more flexibility, consider using external staffing solutions. This allows for more dynamic management of resource demands, although it requires integration with external systems.

Additional Tips

  • Consult SAP Documentation:

    • For more detailed guidance, refer to the SAP documentation on managing project demands, which provides insights into demand attributes and statuses.
  • Contact SAP Support:

    • If these solutions do not resolve your issue, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.
