How to access the custom fields values which are created using Manage Characteristics app

Hi Friends,

I have created the custom fields using Manage Characteristics Application in Customizing Tenant of SAP Public cloud. And I have added the created fields to the class. Now the values entered in the custom fields which are created using Manage characteristics . I have to read those values in the BADI's during creation purchase order creation and purchase order change. can someone tell what is the approach.
