Dears, i've known that in PS - Material Component, it supports Planning Independetn Requirement creation for a material with planning strategy 70, but only preliminary PR for others such as 40/50... My question is, which indicator or paremeters controls such function?  Could any one help on that? Thanks,

This planning strategy 70 is particularly useful when you have multiple variants of finished product that are manufactured using common assemblies and If you can forecast these assemblies well in advance.

In such scenario, you have plan production Quantity / Date of assemblies with strategy 70. However, finished product can have any strategy MTO or MTS. PIR of assembly are consumed by Production Order requirement of header material (not by sales order)

And you can also check the link: link:https://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/42/23bf53d25ab64ce10000000a174cb4/content.htm?no_c...

For the material generated PR or Planned order, which defined by the filed of Procurement type in MRP2 view of material master data.

Procurement type = E, create the Planned order after running MRP.

Procurement type = F, create the PR after running MRP.

Dear Derek, very appreciate ur reply and help here.

Furthermore , could you pls advise how to control a strategy to/or not to create Planned Independent Requirement (P.I.R)?  Is there any indicator or parameter to make it happen ? Or it's just SAP hardcode?
