How can the "Product Groups" fields in the Basic Data 2 view of the Material Master be used?

We would like to use the fields "Product Group Type" and "Product Group" displayed in the "Change Material - MM01" app, within the "Product Groups" section of the Basic Data 2 view.

The goal is to enter information related to our material purchasing categories and sub-categories (e.g., sensors, accessories, tools, etc.) in these fields.

However, these fields are currently greyed out, and we have not been able to find any relevant information online to assist us in using them.

Could you please confirm if these fields are appropriate for storing our purchasing category and sub-category material information ? and are they available in the fiori app "Manage product master" ?

I checked our internal systems in the 'Change Material' App and the 'Product Groups' section under 'Basic Data 2' tab. The customizing 'Define Product Group Types' is not available yet as a Configuration Activity.

'Material Group' found on Basic Tab 1 on the MM01 app designed group together several materials or services with the same attributes, and to assign them to a particular material group. This may fit your requirements, but I would verify this first with you Lead Functional Consultant who is aware of the clients needs and business processes.
