When a person is rehired after Termination, is he given a new PERNR or is he given the old PERNR.

Appreciate sharing of real experiences ratrher than opinion as we are trying to see what we need to adopt.

Rehiring action can be done only for the old (terminated) pernr. it converts the employment status of the employee from withdrawn to active.

Hi SAP PRO,

Based on my real time experience, we had configured to assign the old pernr numbers as this was simplifying the data entering work load on the enduser at the time of the terminated rejoining the company, easy availabilty of master data (just making some modifications to the new records). Thus it was seeming less time consuming to the client.

Thanks,

TS

Configuration

For Hiring Action, Function Character is set to 1 (First Hiring) & Employment Status is set to 3 (Active)

For Leaving/Separation Action, Function Character is set to 0 (Other Actions), Employment Status is set to 0 (Left the Company) & Check is set to MSN20 (Feature for Leaving).

For Re-Hiring Action, Function Character is set to 0 (Other Actions)

Note

Hiring u2013 Employment Status (3 u2013 Active), Position, PA, EEG & ESG with a Personnel Number

Leaving u2013 Employment Status (0 u2013 Withdrawn), Position default (99999999)

Re-Hiring u2013 Employment Status (3 u2013 Active),Position (Same or different) & same Personnel Number (PERNR).

Infotypes that were delimited during the Leaving Action are reused in Re-Hiring.

Hi SAP PRO

See while rehiring the employee its is beneficial to give the old PERNR only becuase:

1. It saves your number ranges.

2. When you seperate any employee you dont delete his full data that means we can use that data again.

3. When we are rehiring there is already a readymade data that we can use, whenevr we separate any employee sytem will change its employee status to 0. Whenver we rehire him again this will be changed to active.

There are many things which u dont want to feed in master data again like address, PF number. ESI number etc.

Hi,

Basic understanding between Hiring and Re-Hiring you can find while grouping infotypes in the configuration.

for Hiring Action always we group infotypes with Operation INS, because it is first time you are hiring and with operation INS, you will create infotype records for the personnel number assigned.

for Re-Hiring Action always we group infotypes with Operation COP, because for the respective personnel number Infotypes are created already, so you will infogroup for Re-Hiring Action with Operation COP, and change the infotype record as required.

Hope it will clear all your problems...

Cheers,

TG
