Dear SAP Experts,

I am seeking your guidance regarding the SAP Fiori App F6991 – Project Cost Overview, which is part of the Project System (PS) module. Our current system is running on SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS02.

In our configuration, we are working with two distinct project profiles, both of which have the following settings enabled:

1. Integrated Planning: Checked

2. Statistical: Checked

Scenario 1: Project with "Integrated Planning" Enabled

In this scenario, I created a project using a project profile where the "Integrated Planning" indicator is checked. During the project creation process, all the mandatory fields were filled in as required.

Subsequently, I used the Fiori App F1711 – Import Financial Plan Data to post the planned budget data. The financial planning data was successfully uploaded and saved for the project.

After this, I navigated to the F6991 – Project Cost Overview app to review the cost data. As expected, all the relevant financial data appeared correctly in the app.

Following the successful planning and data visualization in Scenario 1, I proceeded to modify the project structure. Specifically, I changed the status of the WBS element to "Statistical" within the same project.

After setting the WBS element as statistical, I revisited the Fiori app F6991 to observe any changes in the cost overview. However, I noticed that there was no visible change in how the data was presented.

Scenario 2: Project with "Statistical" Indicator Enabled in Project Profile

In this scenario, I created a new project using a project profile where the "Statistical" indicator is checked. During the creation process, all required fields were filled in properly, and the project structure (WBS elements) was defined as per standard procedures.

Following project creation, I used the Fiori App F1711 – Import Financial Plan Data to upload and post the planned budget data against the WBS elements of the project.

However, after the data was successfully imported, I accessed the F6991 – Project Cost Overview app to review the planning information. At this point, I observed the following behavior:

  • No cost data appeared in the app—neither planned, actual, nor budget values.

  • Even the project structure itself (WBS elements) was not visible within the app.

  • It appeared as though the project did not exist or was not recognized by the app for reporting purposes.

Following the observation that no data appeared in F6991 – Project Cost Overview when using a project profile marked as "Statistical", I attempted to make a correction by adjusting the planning relevance at the WBS element level.

Specifically, I changed the WBS element(s) to have the "Integrated Planning" indicator enabled, intending to make them relevant for financial planning and cost reporting. The expectation was that, after enabling this indicator, the planning data previously uploaded using F1711 – Import Financial Plan Data would become visible in the F6991 app.

However, upon rechecking the app after making this adjustment, the behavior remained unchanged:

  • The project and its structure were still not visible in F6991.

  • No cost or planning data appeared, even though the "Integrated Planning" setting was now active on the WBS element.

  • It appeared as though the app continued to exclude the project entirely from its data set, despite the changes at the WBS level.

Despite reviewing available SAP blogs, documentation, and SAP Help Portal articles related to F6991, I have not found any concrete reference to the specific field(s) or criteria used by the app to determine which projects/WBS elements are included or excluded from its reporting.

Therefore, I would like to ask:

  1. Which specific backend field(s) or controlling indicators does F6991 check to determine if a WBS element or project is eligible for display?

  2. Is there a controlling area assignment, project type, or statistical flag at the project definition level that acts as a hard filter in the app’s data model?

  3. Are there any standard BAdIs, CDS views, or filter criteria in the underlying data model (e.g., I_ProjectCostOverview) that can be reviewed to understand the visibility logic?

Any insights into the technical prerequisites or filtering logic that governs visibility in the F6991 - Project Cost Overview app would be greatly appreciated. This would help clarify system behavior and guide proper configuration.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

William Chi

I would also submit a ticket to SAP Support since you are asking about very specific change impacts which cannot be diagnosed in this forum.

Hi Ken, I've gone through numerous blogs and SAP Notes, but none of them seem to address my specific issue. Despite extensive research, I haven't found any mention of this problem, leaving me without a clear solution. Thanks
