Goods issue with Mov. Type 541 and 561

Case1: I am doing a Goods issue with Mov. type 541 in ME2O and directly proceeding for goods receipt for subcontracting process

Case 2: I am doing a Goods issue with Mov. type 561 in MIGO and then doing transfer posting with 541 to sub contracting vendor and after this doing the GR when the goods are delivered

Is the result for both the cases same? And what is the need for 561 then?

The basic difference between these two movement types are

541 - already stock is there and you goods issue to vendor

561 - stock is not available and you increase the stock to a storage location from the goods issue to happen.

Of course, 561 will only be used for initial stock uploading when a project is Go-Live and it will not be used in a day today operations in any Business

Hi Anmol,

In both cases, the end result is the same, which is the goods being issued and subsequently received for a subcontracting process. However, the process flow and the movement types used differ between the two cases.

The result of both cases will be the same, but the process will be different.

In Case 1, you are directly issuing the goods to the subcontractor and then doing the goods receipt for subcontracting. This is a simpler process, but it means that you have to wait until the goods are delivered to the subcontractor before you can do the goods receipt.

In Case 2, you are first issuing the goods to a special stock (561). This special stock is used to track goods that have been issued to subcontractors. Once the goods are delivered to the subcontractor, you can then do a transfer posting from the special stock to the subcontractor's stock (541). This will update the subcontractor's stock levels and allow you to do the goods receipt.

The need for movement type 561 is to track goods that have been issued to subcontractors. This is useful for tracking the progress of subcontracting orders and for ensuring that the subcontractor has the correct quantity of goods.
