in reference to this question:
I have probably same requirement. The Business wants to manage the Process of purchasing/Leasing of Company Cars with Notifications and equipments, no Fleet Management so fair, just Basic Master Data in The Equipment Master and for beginning no maintenance/repair orders. The Notification should be used for mirroring the whole Process in different Stages.
start of the Process is a requirement/allowance of having a Company car by a authorized Person. The Process ends when the car is Handed over to the new driver.
The Future driver of The car will ask for a Quote at a local dealer. The Person responsible for giving him Green light to take that Action should create an SAP Notification (General Notification Maybe) based on a Notification Template which already Contains some Tasks that are Linked with different Partners (Finance,purchase,HR). The tasks mirror the steps that Are necessary to complete the process. We want to use The Notification to Hand over The responsibilities During The process from One to The other. Each time a task is finished the responsible Person closes that task and in First step manually Starts the next task. With this we want to make visible where we are with a specific Notification (who is responsible and What are the Open tasks.)
in principle I would Like to use the General Notification Type but as fair as i found out,there is nomwas of linking an Equipment as Reference to that Notification? Can anyone confirm? This is because of the Notification category that determines the possible Screen areas of a Notification. Correct?
I would Like to link the Equipment, because in One specific Task of the Notification the Equipment Master has to be created and this would be the best time to link the Equipment to the Notification so we Can easily Identify the Status of One specific Company car procurement Process according to Equipment Master data e.g. Car Plate or Brand or driver and so on. With iw29.

There is a limited selection of subscreens depending on notification category. Is there a reason why you don't want use a maintenance notification?
Since you want use an equipment as a reference object, a maintenance notification is the logical choice of notification category.
