Functional Area in Asset Accounting - Message no. AAPO189

Hi,

We have activated account assignment for Functional Area in asset accounting. We have checked "Identical" check mark for functional area. We have done all other necessary settings in the system. However, when we create an asset, the functional area from cost center is not getting populated in the asset master. When we are tying to post to this asset, the system is comparing the functional area determined at line item level, with the one in the asset master (which is blank). Resultantly it is throwing an error, "Account object Functional Area for Investment differs from that in asset

master record - Message no. AAPO189".

Hence, just want to know if we need to manually enter functional area in asset master.? How can we make functional area field in asset master filled by referring to cost center assigned to the asset master.?

Hi:

You can 'untick' the field 'functional area' by doing the following:

Asset Accounting -> Integration with the General Ledger -> Additional Account Assignment Object -> Activate Account Assignment Objects

Go in Menu:

Edit, Change field selection. Turn off indicator for 'Functional area.

If this does not solve your issue then please check the Customizing of Asset Accounting in the Integration with G/L under node 'Change the Field Status Variant of the Asset G/L Accounts' you have the status of field functional area set to 'required'. It should be suppressed or set to 'optional' in order for AAPO189 not to be raised from the system.

Thanks for the reply.

Please note that we want to have functional area as an account assignment. But, we are not quire sure how the functional area is filled in asset master. We assume that, functional area will be filled automatically based on the cost center assigned. But, it is not happening. Hence, I want to know if we need to fill functional area in asset master manually. OR is there any way out gto get the functional area filled automatically.
