Forecast generated thru MRP type VM not transferred to MD04

Hi,

We are using MRP Type VM

Based on past consumption values, system is generating Re-order and Safety Stock point

Forecasting values are generated but when we check MD04 there is no display of PiR

System just generates Safety stock line

Are we missing any configuration or is there any understanding issue?

Hello Natalie

MRP type VM will only use the forecast to calculate the reorder point and the safety stock, so it is not expected that you see that forecast in transaction MD04 when using this MRP type. 

If you check the MRP type customizing in transaction OMDQ, you will note that the MRP Ind. Forecast is set to Not to be included in planning. 

If you want to have a forecast relevant to MRP, you should use a different MRP type, like VV, for example.

Actually, I found a way to add the forecast to MD04 in the customization, but as you explained it has not meaning due the reason the VM type is for reorder point and the requisitions created upon reorder point. So, then the question is why we get the forecast values? For what use?

Forecast values are used to calculate the reorder point and the safety stock.
