Fiscal year variant mandatory

Hi Experts, 

We observed that a material from plant A, maintaining fiscal year variant which we maintain in MRP3 is not mandatory. But for another material from plant B, it is mandatory. 

Please suggest on what basis system makes this field mandatory?

MM fields are assigned to field selection group and field selection group is assigned to field reference. Different field references can have different options like display , required entry , suppress etc for the same field.

Field references are assigned to material types . .

In your case mandatory and optional may be different material types

Hi Ajit, thanks for the reply. Both the materials have same Material type. Just that they are created for 2 different plants. Please advice.

in that case check in OMSA whether both the plants have same field reference. if it is different fields statuses can be different . in OMS9 new field references can be created.
