I am working on a project on S4HANA 2023 SP01. My client has a requirement to have external number range assigned to a specific material type and it should be possible to enter the following numbers:
- Only numbers - for example 1234;
- Numbers and special symbols - for example 170.70
- Alphabetic characters - for example ABCD
If we create a number range 0 - ZZZZ, it is possible to create materials with numbers and special symbols and alphabetic characters. However when we try to enter only numbers the system gives an error “With this material type, ext. material no. must not contain only numbers”.
It seems there is no standard way to do the above.
We have checked the user exists in enhancement MGA00002 and MGA00003 and it seems we cannot use these to achieve our goal - it is always needed to have letters as pre-fix or suffix.
Do you know if there is some other UE / enhancement that we can use to fulfil our requirement?
