Extensibility of WM Handling Unit OPD or Add Resource Group to WM Handling Unit in OPD

To support efficient picking and packing in a distribution warehouse, we must allow users to be able to easily swap which mobile printer / print queue they are connected to. This must be allowed to be changed on an RF device to allow a user to swap on the floor, without having to access Output Parameter Determination, which is a Super-User level application.

We can achieve this by 1 of 2 ways.

  1. Adding Resource Group as a condition within WM Handling Unit in Output Parameter Determination. Currently, this business object is not extensible.
  2. Allowing this object, of 'WM Handling Unit' to be extensible allows us to add a custom field or resource group

By allowing determination of Printer Queue to Resource Group, a user can perform 05 Resource Management > 02 Change Resource Group on the standard RF device and enter their new resource group. This resource group can be linked to a print queue and thus to a specific printer. This allows a user to easily swap from one printer to another by utilizing this standard field. In SAP Private cloud, there is separate option available to allow a user to swap printers directly within the same RF screen as previously mentioned of 05 Resource Management > 03 Change Printer

Dear SAP Community,

Indeed the application object WM Handling Unit is not extensible, but you can use the application Object Handling Unit. This one is extensible.

There is a BAdI where custom fields can be filled. For details, see Extensibility for Adobe Output Forms of HU Documents | SAP Help Portal

Thank you and best regards,

Geovana
