expiration date vs production date - Logic

hi all,

we are implementing a production order form where the expiration date should be pulled. Can you please confirm what is the logic, step by step, to write on a functional design. Is the following logic enough for developer?

'S/4 calculates a shelf life expiration date from the date of production plus the total shelf life'

Could you please elaborate your requirement with more details?

Are you creating a batch at the time of production order creation release?

Or during the good receipt you can do that with standard characteristic like LOBM_HSDAT in MIGO

• Set "Check Best Before Date/Production Date" for movement type 101 to "1" in transaction code OMJ5.
• Maintain "Total Shelf Life" in Plant data / Stor. 1 view of the material master.
• In MIGO you will have a message "Please enter Production Date" occurs if you do not enter "Date of Manufacture".
• Input "Date of Manufacture" then "Shelf Life Expiration" will be calculated by the "Max. storage period" set in the material master.

Could you please enlight me on this item below ?

• Input "Date of Manufacture" then "Shelf Life Expiration" will be calculated by the "Max. storage period" set in the material master. Is it possible to have the "Date of Manufacture" field mandatory for user to fill without the Shelf Life Expiration components to be enabled? They are not looking to maintain the SLEDs fields since their product differentiate alot.
