Exclude Creator option in Flexible workflow steps

We have gone through the new fucntionality introduced in S/4HANA CLoud 2102 for excluding the creator from the approval list but it is unclear that what is possible and what is not , while using the functionality. We do not want any workflow to get disrupted in the productive environment

There are 3 possible cases can come :

1. Only One approver in the Step and Exclude option is marked in the definition:

If the approver picked by the definition is the creator, then the below error will be raised in the workflow

"Approver Determined as restricted agents"

2. More than one approver and Exclude option is marked in the definition:

In this case, remaining (except the creator if he/she is in the list) approvers will get the notification.

3. Do not Exlude parameter is selected

All the approvers will be considered.

Here below:

I have this exact scenario and came upon this error message. Does that mean that when there is only 1 approver in this step, and the creator of the document is also the approver, it is not possible to skip or pass the workflow step? The creator will always have to approve its own document? In the Purchase Requisition workflow, I thought that by selecting "Exclude Restricted Agents : Exclude Requestors" - the requestors (creators) will not need to self-approve.

I believe I had to also complement with the parameter "Optional Step = Yes".
It seems to work now.
