In SAP B1 10.0 is the menu option in the Tools menu for the Excel Report & Interactive Designer become unfunctional? I am getting a red error stating "cannot launch excel report and interactive analysis designer..." when trying to open the designer from within SAP B1

Dear s.henry,

Please verify if it was installed in the first place, the option showing in the menu does not mean that it was installed.

Thank You.

That was my thought. We are currently implementing in a test system, and wanted to have it in our live company when it gets set up, but was told by the provider that "that link no longer works. SAP moved the functionality outside of the system and just has not removed it from the tools menu." I am just trying to confirm if that is accurate, or they just don't want to re-install the program properly.

Dear s.henry,

The SAP Partner(provider) may either does not have the expertise on Interactive designer tool or they don't think they would be paid for the work involved.

By right they should do the installation for free. There are few default reports but most of the time you need to customize/modify according to your requirement. For this customization effort, most of the customers are not willing to pay.

If you have been experience in XL Reporter(a reporting tool for B1-SQL), then Interactive designer shall be easy for you adapt.

Btw, the designer application runs outside of sap b1.

To reconfirm here is the checklist in the following order:

  1. Make sure you are using B1 HANA and not SQL (where the menu appears but does not work/support)
  2. Verify if your server has enough resources to accommodate the application
  3. Check the installation, by running the installation package, the list shall show the checkbox enabled, if the interactive designer is installed
  4. Excel should be installed, most likely server will not have excel application installation, so test from the client machine

Have a look at this how to guide to have better understanding.

Thank You.

Dear s.henry,

In order to resolve this issue with your partner, please check at your end if the interactive designer is part of the implementation scope.

Whether, the interactive designer is installed or not, the option in the sap menu will always appear. When the interactive designer is installed, the menu will open the designer window separately, outside sap.

You shall further use the how to guide to verify with your partner and check the cost involved.

Please note that without technical know how end use cannot use the interactive designer.

Thank You.
