Hi folks,
we are using the Business Package for ESS. When deploying the BP to the portal, you find a really huge list of started WebDynpro applications providing the same functionality for different languages.
Example (to be seen in -> Content-Administration -> Web Dynpro -> Content Administrator -> Deploeyd Content -> sap.com 😞
sap.com/essaraddr
sap.com/essauaddr
sap.com/essbeaddr
etc.etc.
As we only use and will only use one language (german) in the portal, i am asking myself, if all these running applications are really needed ? We only need "sap.com/essdeaddr". Won't it be better for the server to disable/undeploy all the others ?
Why are they all running ?
Would be nice to have an official SAP statement regarding this issue.
Thanks a lot !
Hello,
placed an OSS request and got the following answer
***************
...
these applications are not language depending applications, but
countryspecific.
You might call the services for Germany in all languages where the
language resoutrces are available.
There is no recomandation from SAP to delete the other applications.
But there shouldn't be a problem if you delete a ccountryversion which
is not needed.
Of course you will get a dump if you delete the version for a country,
which is needed by an employee.

Hello Andreas!
This is definitely not an official SAP answer but my 2 cents on this.
The BP is certainly quite big in size and takes also some time for the import but I would rather have too many services available then too little. You normally hear people complain about services not available in their language rather then too many services available. You are lucky that your language is one of the most supported languages by SAP (what a surprise). I don't believe that you have to worry about server impact when it comes to unused services but you also have the option to disable the service via Netweaver content admin. Just log on to your web dynpro server and use web dynpro content admin to view the deployed services then disable them. Please make sure that you don't disable services that are used by other services!
