Error "Serial number already exists for material" when creating new equipment

Hello, 

We are working on a scenario where fresh material is received with an external serial number successfully in stock. 

Then I'm trying to create a new equipment and assign the received material with the external number to it, but it returns an error - "Serial number already exists for material" 

Is there a way to assign already received material with serial number to new equipment?

Hi adrakev,

If I understood you correctly, you want to use a serial number that was newly created during a goods receipt as an equipment that can be used e. g. in maintenance processes. You can create a full equipment out of a serial number by clicking the "Equipment view" button in app Change Material Serial Number. Alternatively, you can set up procedure MMSL in the serial number profile customizing that a full equipment for a serial number gets created during serial number creation.

Please check the tcode IE02. Enter the equipment id and go to top menu bar. In the "Environment" there is an option to link existing serial number list. Did you check this? Does it work?

Similar option is available in IQ02 also in top menu bar.

I`ve tried it, but there is not really a possibility to link the existing serial number with the equipment with this menu.

Did you already look at KBA such as 3382949 - Error IS121 "Serial number &1 already exists for material &2" at goods movement posting ?

Yes i did, in my scenario the GR is successful and i have received it with the external serial number. 

I`m trying to create a new equipment after the material is received with the respective external SN, which should not be changed.

Consider also creating a new internal serial number but keep the external one in Manufacturer Serial Number
