Error "please specify a valid MRP procedure"

I am getting an error "please specify a valid MRP procedure" when I tried to to enter MRP type VV.

In Error details I am geting "You have specified an unsuitable MRP type. This is because quantity updating is not defined for the current material type in the specified plant."

Please help.

It's not about the MRP type VV but I think you haven't set the evaulation area of material type with respect to your plant.

You can go to transaction OMS2, select your material type and on left colom double click on  Quantity / Value updated and see if Quantity value updated checkbox is checked. It should be checked and save and try again. I hope it will sort out your problem.
