Hi Dinesh,

Error shown is:

"Error when opening an RFC connection (CPIC-CALL: 'ThCPICArgs'#Illegal CONVID#)."

See Note 2174439 - Error when opening an RFC connection (CPIC-CALL: 'ThCPICArgs' Illegal CONVID ), pointing to hostname resolution problems.

Take a screenshot from SM59 RFC Destination settings, and perform a Connection Test.

Thanks,

Raquel

Hi Dinesh

Run a test with the program NIPING.EXE that is located in the SAP GUI installation directory. The call "niping -t"carries out a self-test of the TCP/IP configuration on the PC.

With the call "niping -c -H<server_hostname>", a connection test can be carried out tot the application server, if you first start the counterpart "niping -p" on that machine.

For details, see SAP Note 500235, Network diagnosis with NIPING.

Thanks

Ravi

Hi Dinesh

Please post the result of the tests i recommended in my earlier post.

As the problem lies with the RFC Logon itself therefore we need to concentrate our attention on the network configuration.

Thanks

Ravi

Hi Dinesh,

As per attached screenshot:

ERROR: hostname '198.105.244.11' unknown

LOCATION: SAP-Server CLSSIDES_IDN_00 on host CLSSIDES (wp 9)

DETAIL: NiPGetHostByAddr: '198.105.244.11' not found

So, the problem on this failing RFC is that hostname '198.105.244.11' is unknown unknown. Issue described on Note 2174439. This problem is related to hostname resolution problems; you should ensure that hostname resolution is correctly working.

Also check if your kernel release matches to Note  1890901 - Incorrect error text if RFC connection error

Hi Dinesh,

Issue resolution is completely suggested under the SAP KBA  2174439 - Error when opening an RFC connection (CPIC-CALL: 'ThCPICArgs' Illegal CONVID )

Have you tested the RFC connection through SM59 ?
