Enable deletion of sales area master data without transaction behind?

Hi all,

At our S/4HANA public cloud implementation and also by human error, we have wrongly created sales area in customer master data.

These customers have multiple sales area data where the wrong ones are blocked in terms of sales order creation, delivery and billing. There is no transactional data behind as we blocked as stated before prior to any transaction started with this sales area.

But even without transactional data, once this sales area data is created/saved, even only a few seconds after, no way to delete. The delete button is greyed out. We opened SAP ticket, the answer was to go for archiving process. But go to archiving process just for a sales area data deletion without any transactional data is too heavy for us.

Don't we have a way to configure in SSCUI to enable sales area deletion for those we do not have transaction behind?

Obviously we do not want to delete BP as this BP is used with the right sales area.

Just checking with you all, prior to go to influence request.

Best regards,

Kumiko

Dear Kumiko,

There is no way to delete sales area. You can mark as do not use and like u mentioned block sales area.

In Public cloud its general guideline to define the Org structure carefully and deletion is not possible as of now.

Would you not agree that it is a functional shortcoming? Why is it not possible to delete any master data if there is no transactional data behind that? I know SAP position here that the archiving process should be used. However if you think about that from the end user perspective - it is kind of lame not to provide deletion function when there are no dependencies and a master record can be safely deleted. Advising caution and carefulness is not a solution; it is a cover up.

I am considering sales area data is nothing but sales area , which is configuration. Is my understanding correct?

sahilgrover Sales area is indeed nothing more but a configuration setting. However the question is about deleting customer master data on sales area level.
