HI Irfan,

Proceed have extensive experience in the archiving of legacy data from aged systems prior to decommissioning.

Decommissioning an SAP system is a complex undertaking, though the process can be greatly speeded up by using consultants who know what data needs to be retained, and in what format. Proceed has experience of extracting SAP data and storing the resulting files in SAP certified content repository systems. The files can then be made available to users via a number of front-end applications.

Bespoke customer applications can be decommissioned using the same fundamental approach as SAP. Often the bespoke applications are legacy applications left behind during an ERP implementation. Whilst much, if not all, of the operational data will have been migrated, often there is a vast amount of data that would have been left behind. In order to save costs, any data that is still required by the business or the authorities, should be extracted and archived, and made available to users in a simple and easy to use application.

If you are an Opentext customer, then it is more than likely that all the required tools will already have been included in your “Data and Document Access” licence, meaning very little outlay before you can start decommissioning. Reports can be easily run in bulk using any testing tool. Those reports can then be archived as either Print Lists or Document Lists, and can be archived using the Opentext Document Pipeline, commonly known by either COLD (COR3) or External (EXR3) archiving. The resulting reports can then be searched in SAP via Opentext Doculink.

  • Reduce IT Maintenance costs
  • Compliance & risk mitigation
  • Legacy data access
