Hi Team,
I am looking out for basic difference between S4HANA Cloud (aka Essentials edition the SaaS ) and RISE with SAP S/4 HANA Cloud edition (subscription based ) . As per my understanding the basic code line for SAP S/4 HANA would be same and both are SaaS cloud offerings, the extra's that come with RISE with SAP - like BTP(Cloud platform enterprise aggregate credits), BPI (Discovery report), Business Network starter pack(Ariba very basic version ) .
Can anyone clarify if this understanding is right ? and when should a customer choose S4HC over RISE with SAP Cloud edition ?
Thanks & Regards,
Suma

Hello Suma
RISE is a SAP service offering introduced by SAP in the beginning of 2021 . The whole point of RISE is to answer the customer questions on how to get to S/4 Hana cloud from where they are today; as every client is in different stage of digital transformation .Rise provides a common framework and structure that customers can use and work with the partner to get the tailored offering for their move to S/4 Hana cloud .
So RISE is not a product but a service offering a package service provided by SAP to help customer move to S/4 Hana cloud.
You are right service does include BPI for business process discovery and BTP (Business technology plateform) , which is a technical foundation for move to the cloud platform via extension , integration and provide a semantic layer . This is why it also includes the network connection .
Hope that helps !
Thanks

Hi Suma,
There is no difference interms of S4HC within RISE with S/4HANA Cloud bundle. From S/4HANA Cloud perspective it is the same but within RISE offering we have different products/services bundled. With the announcement of RISE only available SKU are the new ones with RISE bundle. Customers can not order S/4HANA Cloud without RISE bundle.
All above is for Public Cloud. RISe with S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition is a different bundle. S/4HANA product in Private Edition is same as S/4HANA on prem but infrastructure and Managed services are also included in the bundle and some more cloud qualities.
S/4HANA Cloud(Public) is deployed on SAP Data Centers only whereas for Private Cloud we have different options for hyperscalers.
Based on the requirement of the customer (NNN or migration from ECC or industry scope) we decide which one is the best fit for the customer RISE with S/4HANA Cloud or RISE with S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition.
I hope this clarifies a bit more

Hello Suma,
RISE with SAP is not a product but a comprehensive service offering that includes different components including among others: Cloud ERP, Business Process Intelligence, Business Technology Platform and Analytics, Business Networks and outcome driven services and tools, see link to get some additional information: https://www.sap.com/products/rise.html
Before Rise with SAP which was introduced in January of 2021, customers needed to subscribe to SAP S/4HANA (Private or Public Cloud) and independently add some of the other components based to their business requirements.
I hope this helps to answer your question.
Best regards,
Barbara

Hello Barbara ,
Yes it helps. I am aware of the RISE with SAP - a bundle of service offerings with different components.
But my question was around S4HC as a product vs the new cloud offering via RISE with SAP offerings. If any customer wants to go in for a Cloud transition and just needs simple SaaS S/4 product (without any extra components) , then he should decide on S/4 HANA Cloud (S4HC) right ? What about the Infra piece ? both S4HC and RISE with SAP Cloud (public) one can be deployed on Hyper scalars like AWS, Azure etc right ?
Regards,
Suma
