1) In inventory management only we can count or identify the exact quantity of products present in the plant as per the storage locations.
2) In warehouse management we can track the exact location of product i.e. where it is suppose to be stored? (depending upon the kind of material), which area, which Rack, which Bin, everything right from the receiving dock and then effective putaway and picking, packing and shipping.
3) In inventory management we can valuate the product like
Cost of product at port + transportation cost + cost of any special treatment while storage or value added services if applicable = cost of product at that particular Plant.
4) while warehouse management is purely based on the quantities.
These are the main differences of Inventory and Warehouse management.
