Hello dear community,

the client is requiring us to create a new depreciation key for a single chart of depreciation which is assigned to a CoCd.

The requirement is the following:

- Depreciation is calculated linear and ordinary based on the useful life of the asset

- In the first FY of the asset activation depreciation is calculated and posted by 50% of the basis depreciation for this period

- Depreciation starts in the next month after acquisition

- From the FY+1 after activation onwards depreciation is calculated and posted normally (100%)

Example:

Acquisition = 3600 €; Useful life = 3 years (36 months); Acquisition/Capitalization date = 01.04.2024; CoCd FY start = 01.01.YYYY; monthly calculated depreciation = 100 €

In that scenario Depreciation starts in Mai 2024 and is calculated by 50 € between Mai and December 2024. From January 2025 onwards depreciation is 100 € until value gets 0 €:

I have already created one depreciation key and multilevel method for this special requirement, but as you see depreciation method should be treated differently depending on the FY.

My understanding is that the trigger of the method changeover needs to be the FY change.

In customizing I could not find anything that can support that behavior. So far the Depr. Key is calculating the 50% of the depreciation for the first 12 months (as customized in the multilevel method) and unfortunately I could not find any possibility to restrict the 50% depreciation rule to only the first FY.

Multilevel Meth.:

My research led me to the BAdI methods FAA_DC_CUSTOMER (define_changeover_yr) and FAA_DC_CUSTOMER (define_changeover_yr_and_prd). It seems that we can create new changeover rules for that.

Does anyone of you have experience with such/similar requirement and could explain me whether this BAdI implementation is the only possibility to comply with the requirement?

Thank you so much for your input.

Best regards

Thaís
