I created my own planning category in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, imported financial plan data and now, i want to delete that planning category. I'd like to ask - what will happen with the planned data, if i delete the category in "Maintain category for planning" implementation activity? Will the planned data be deleted from the system too or do i need to delete the data first, and then delete the planning category?
there is a check which prevents users from deleting plan categories which already contain data. If you want to delete a category which is already in use, you need to delete the plan data first.
Thank you for your answer. We were testing it and we found out that the system let us delete the used category even when there still were some planned data and it did not issue any warning or error. The planned data were not deleted. Is that normal or is it some kind of bug? Thank you
after aligning with my colleagues, I have to admit that my answer was not precise enough:
The check, if data is available in a specific category, is performed for categories with an Application Type other than Periodic Planning, because the category and the data must be deleted consistently in accordance with the respective application.
