Hi,
What is the linkage between cycle set and maintenance plan?
See, for preventive MNT of a vehicle, we create
1- Cycle set
2- Measuring point
3- Measuring counter (if mes.point is counter based)
4- MNT item & Plan
How the system fetch cycle for MNT plan? Because in MNT Plan we only put the counters and no sign of cycle in MNT Plan.

Hi,
A Cycle set, as the name suggests, is a set of cycles that are relevant for maintaining an asset. For e.g. you might want to check the tyre pressure a car when it has run 3000 kms or when the number of days since last maintenance is 3 months. Here you see there are 3 different counters (though the time dimension is not a "counter" per se, but I hope you got the point.
Similarly, when the vehicle has run 9000 kms or 9 months (but here we do not consider tyre pressure), you want to do a more elaborate maintenance of the same asset with a different set of operations (/Tasklists)
So you create 2 Cycle Sets:
Cycle set 1 has the following cycle:
You create a maintenance item for the said asset and assign this Cycle Set sequence 1 to this item, with a specific task-list
Similarly, Cycle set sequence 2 has the following cycles:
And you create another Item for the same Asset, and assign this sequence to the second item with a different task list.
Additionally, you can say that the 1 cycle set must repeat twice before the second cycle set sequence occurs.
This will be the behaviour:
1. Whenever a measurement reading of 3000 kms is posted or when the current date is 3 months since the start of scheduling, the scheduler of the maintenance plan will create one order (or notification) for item 1 with the operations in task list 1 that is meant to do the maintenance of the cycle set.
2. Since you have set a repetition factor of 2, again when the measurement reading reaches 6000 kms or 6 months (which is 3000 kms or 3 months since the last cycle), one more order for item 1 is created.
3. When the reading reaches 9000 kms or when the date from scheduling is 9 months, the system will know that it must create an order for item 2 because item 2 is assigned to cycle set sequence 2 which has cycles for 9000 kms or 9 months.
4. And the sequence repeats. Seq 1....Seq 1....Seq2....Seq 1... Seq 1... Seq 2... <and so on>
This type of plan is useful when you are dealing with assets that need to be maintained based on multiple factors that decide the condition of the asset.
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
Niranjan

Hi niranjan.raju,
Many thanks for your nice explanations.
My question is how the system can realize these 2 cycle sets, as we don't mention none of these in the maintenance plan.
As I know, in column "cycle" of maintenance plan we only put the 3000 kms or 90 days not the number of the cycle set which we created. Also, in cycle set sequence we don't mention the cycle set.
In "Counter" column we only put the counter which has only estimation on it which can be relate to our cycle set.

Amin
Hi Amin,
If you go to the Item section while creating a maintenance plan, in the table of item you have the column for Cycle set. This is how system will know which counter to use for which item order creation.

Hi niranjan.raju,
In "Items" section of maintenance plan, there is "Cycle set sequence" column
Which is related to "General Data" tab lines.
So, the counter is related to item in "Items" tab. So, the counter is related to maintenance item which is the equipment.
But in cycle set that we created in "maintenance cycle set" we don't mention measuring point or anything like this.

Amin
