As per help center documentation: Journal Entry Types and Number Ranges – Configuration Guide

Journal entry types are used to classify journal entries by filtering and selecting journal entries for the same type of business transaction. Journal entry types are also used to ensure that journal entries of the same type receive journal entry IDs from the same number range.

The journal entry types are predefined and cannot be changed. However, you can create additional journal entry types for journal entries generated by journal entry vouchers in the general ledger.

You can check the follow below steps to create a custom journal entry type.

Business Configuration>Journal Entry Types and Number Ranges

Click on Edit Journal Entry Types

In this screen you can define the journal entry types for manual entries. For all other business transactions journal entry types are provided automatically and cannot be changed.
