Cost center planning - price calculation

Former Member

Hi gurus,

(I am new to Controlling, and so please bear with me if I ask you basic questions)

My ultimate goal is to create a plan/actual variance report for the 'Painting' activity.

This is what I have done so far.

1. As a first step, I created an activity type - Painting - with the unit of measurement 'hour'.

2. I created a cost element (category 42), so I can allocate the costs incurred for this activity to other cost centers.

3. In tcode KP26, I entered the plan values for each of the periods and chose the value of the price as 0001 (default value). However, I would like to enter a price of $10/hour for this activity.

However, I dont understand how to assign a price to this activity. How do I make this configuration setting?

Also, how do I post 'actual' values for this activity type? I am asking this because the 'unit of measurement' is hour, and usually all the FI transactions are in $.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Regards,

Vijay.

For actual, before run KSII, you must run KSS2.

Hi fellows

Pls dont forget to say that before run KSPI, you must run KSS4 if there is a splitting structure for activity+cost center.

In short words, your production cost center has two activities: labor and machine.

So activity labor must consider only accounts from labor expenses.

Then by running KSS4 you assure your activity will have distinct prices.

Hi,

You have 2 ways of getting the planned prices for Activities in SAP.

1. Manual update in KP26:: You can manually update the prices such as Fixed/Variable (break up only for information) per unit of measure.

2.Calculating through system: With the help of the Cost Center Planning such as Activity Dependent and Activity Independent planning and Splitting (not necessarily with splitting rule but can also do calculate based on the weighting factor (Equivalence number in KP26).

Similar way you can do for actuals:

-You can manually update the actual price in KBK6

-You can calculate through system: With the help of the actual postings to the Cost Center and splitting.

Initially you can do post with plnned price and later you can re-valuate the activities with the actual price so that the delta is posted.

Hi Vijay

1. Your cost ele assigned in activity type would be category 43 and not 42

2. In KP26, there is an option to enter Price also i.e. Fixed price and Variable price... you can enter your price there

If you want to calculate price through the system, Then Plan expenses in Kp06 and Plan the Activity Qty in Kp26 and then calculate activity price through KSPI

3. Now coming to actuals - The actuals against this act type will be confrmed through production confirmations in PP module.. your FI bookings in USD does not directly affect the Activity type...

hi

1.creat secondary cost element cat 43 for activity allocation

2. Plan Expenses in KP06

3. Plan Activities in KP26

4. Execute Plan Assessment or Distribution for allocating expenses from service to production cost centers

5. Calculate activity price on production cost centers (KSPI)
