Consumables in SAP

Dear PP Users,

In my company, there are two different types of #consumables.

Firstly, the ones that are directly consumed on the product but can have fluctuations in their usage depending upon operator expertise and other factors (MIG Wire, Paint etc).

The others are the ones that are not directly used in the product such as gloves, machining oil etc.

Currently, we are consuming both of these materials at the Cost center using 201. The procurement and consumption both are done manually. What is the best way to systemize both types of materials. Should we include them in BOM. If yes then what is the best way to include them?

Kind Regards,
Ahmad

Hello @Ahmad473  Basically, all B and C related materials are consumed by using 201 movement type in SAP. This will be decided depends to cost of products and consumption ranges. Also, you can plan this Products by setting required safety stock and re-order point qty.

Normally, for the (MIG Wire, Paint etc), we usually call them as "Bulk material", and also set "Bulk material" indicator in the MRP2 view.

And you can put the bulk material into the BOM, and just keep the BOM structure more completed, but for the bulk material , they will not be shown in the MRP list or the stock/req. list, and also NOT take part in MRP.

For the requirement of the bulk material, you can just create the independency requirement (MD61), or create the PO directly, or use Reorder point as a consumption-based.

You can just keep doing the goods issue to the cost center(movement type 201), that is normal solution for these parts, since the cost of these parts are low, and the Using qty cannot be calculated exactly, thank you.
