While creating consolidation unit, there is attribute property called 'Consolidation Unit is Partner Unit Only'
What is the use of this field? When is this field needs to be selected?

Hi,
the regular usage is that a Consolidation Unit is used in the role Consolidation Unit and (!) Partner Unit (the fields share the same master data).
If the check box is ticked, the role is limited to Partner Unit. Hence other attributes in the master data are disabled because they would only be needed for a Consolidation Unit.
A scenario where this may be useful is if GR is used for a sub-group consolidation only and results need to be reported to the total group consolidation system reporting partner units from a group perspective.
Kind regards,
Florian

Hi ramg1968,
I believe the purpose is as follows.
Your Consolidation Unit is linked to company ID and/or Company Code in SAP based on your Legal Structure. It might though be that you have a Legal Entity that is administered in another existing company code, but still needs to be a Partner Unit in order to properly eliminate Intercompany positions in Group Reporting. So, these consolidation units are not an admin and linked to a full underlying ERP admin but are Partner Units only.
Another use case is that if you want to make bookings in Group Reporting (ACDOCU) only on a higher level, e.g. for Intercompany Loans, Holding bookings.... you might want to make use of a Partner only Consolidation Unit. Although this is not advised, because you miss then these key financials in the local books.
Thirdly, it might be that for a certain unit the consolidation methods might change from one period to the other. E.g. from a non-consolidated company to a consolidated company because the % of the stake or power over the company (e.g. board seats) changed. I can think of a use case where you want to use Partner only in this case in combinations with normal consolidation units.
There might be other use cases.
Regards, Jack
